THE PROJECT

CVGE were asked to initially design and specify equipment requirements for Luton Airport.

WHAT DID WE DO?

The vehicles looking to be tested were vehicle airport tugs, due to them being small wheel based and of heavy axle weights the Airport were scared by their ground conditions. When consulting a competitor were told they would need in the excess of 16000 additional rebar steel pieces.

CVGE spoke to the design team and structural engineers to show on the basis of our purpose built steel fabricated pits with angles and bracing every 1.0m and 0.5m external the need for external rebar was not a structural requirement.

CVGE won the order, supplied on time and on budget, and currently every plane that leaves Luton Airport has been transported by a Tug which has been maintained over a CVGE steel pit and a CVGE 20t Air Operated Pit Jack.
